Axe Cop - President of the World

Axe Cop is so awesome that the world will poop volcanos!

If you have ever seen Axe Cop either online or in print form, you know what to expect before you even open the pages of Axe Cop: President of the World. For those of you that have never had the pleasure of reading Axe Cop you're in for a treat. Written by 8 year old Malachai Nicolle and drawn by his big brother Ethan. Axe Cop is a rip roaring ride of weird, goofy, crazy over the top entertainment that is as amusing as it is ridiculous.

Axe Cop: President of the World is a direct sequel to Bad Guy Earth, but don't fret. This isn't the kind of series that you need to worry about continuity. Axe Cop is cop that found a magical axe and he really hates bad guys. Now you're up to date and can enjoy all the glory that is Axe Cop!

Axe Cop really has a lot on his plate as the newly instated President of the World. There is new cop in town named Goo Cop. There is a talking gorilla with gun fists and a tail that can shoot airplanes, it doesn't help that Axe Cop's biggest fear is talking gorillas. There is also several alien races that have their eyes set on over throwing earth in one million years. Lucky for Axe cop, God's shield around earth is holding up and all the bad guys on earth are dead from pooping poison.
There wasn't a page of this first issue that didn't have me giggling; Malachai's 8 year old brain churns out crazy idea after crazy idea, and is so full of child like wonder and delight that it's impossible not to smile.

Ethan Nicolle deserves absolute admiration from his peers. He may well just be one of the best artists and story tellers in the business. He crams every detail that comes from his younger brother into each and every panel, yet he still is able to tell a smooth flowing story. Ethan has an amazing ability to fill each panel with not only the required story (which is already insane) but with little background jokes (like all the axe hats in Axeville, and the history of axes in Axe Cop's boudoir). Looking at his art has always been a joy, but now with the growth that he has made has made it's a true delight.

If you don't have a copy of Axe Cop somewhere in your collection, you need to change that and have a long hard think about your life. Maybe re-evaluate where you're at in life. With so many serious books coming out from publishers, it's great to see something that is just pure fun. Actually Axe Cop is so much more than just fun, it's joyous, it's about the best time you can have with paper in your hands.
